An Interview with Chad Pfeifer

Chad Pfeifer discusses his experience at the 2019 Brightspot Unified Challenge and how his life has been in the year since with Special Olympics golfer and fellow competitor, Matthew Gang.

Matthew Gang: Did you have fun playing at Creighton Farms last year?

Chad Pfeifer: Yes. I've always loved Creighton Farms. It's a great course and the event was awesome.

Gang: I totally agree, the event was super fun! What was your best memory at the golf course?

Pfeifer: Just hanging out with everybody. Seeing the other veterans that were at the event. Seeing all the First Tee kids and the Special Olympics golfers. Everybody there was a lot of fun to be around and it's always a great time.

Gang: I absolutely agree. And I played with the First Tee Golfers too. And I played with you, because you're a veteran too.

Pfiefer: (laughing) Yeah, yeah that's right.

Gang: Was it your first time to DC?

A favorite quote from the interview gets added here.
Name, Organization

Pfeifer: I've been to DC before, but I hadn't gone to some of the monuments that we went to. So going down to the Lincoln Memorial was a lot of fun. But yeah, that was my first time really kind of exploring the historical venues we went to.

Gang: Can you tell me anything cool that happened to you since last year?

Pfeifer: I got to play in the Diamond Resorts Invitational again, which is the LPGA Tournament of Champions down in Florida. I got to go to Australia and Dubai and playing in some all abilities championships over there. So that was a lot of fun. So yeah, it's been a fun year and now, looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store.

Gang: Totally agree. I've been playing golf a lot also. I've got a bunch of tournaments going on. Since it was close I played at Hackler and it was pretty nice out there. I also played in Miami and Jupiter Florida with all the professional golfers there.

Pfeifer: Nice! Did you play with Tiger again this year?

Gang: I did. I do play him once a year. He beat me a couple of times, I beat him a couple of times. We just tied.

Pfiefer: He's pretty good, right?

Gang: Yes. He's pretty good and I'm pretty good too. Anyway, how is your life different with coronavirus aka COVID?

Pfeifer: You know, I haven't been doing hardly any traveling so the traveling part of it makes it tough for me. I've been able to get more time with the family, which is always good. But yeah, at this point, I'm starting to miss competition golf. So I struggle with that.

Gang: I totally agree. I miss that too. How is your golf game and do you have any golf stories to tell from 2020?

Chad and Matthew Discuss the 2019 Brightspot Unified Challenge

Pfeifer: Like I said, I ended up finishing fourth in the Diamond Resorts Invitational so that was a lot of fun. I played I played really good golf for three days and then my Saturday round wasn't great. But it was fun. I always golfing with the LPGA girls and to finish fourth was a bonus.

Gang: I watched you on TV and it was kinda nice when I saw you...though you didn't give me a shout out at all! So...

Pfeifer: (laughing) Yeah, I know. I didn't give people a lot of people shout outs. So I apologize for that.

Gang: That's alright, Chad. I totally forgive you. Who's your favorite musician....like music?

Pfeifer: My favorite musician? Oh, I like a lot of different people. Depends on my mood, really. I like Metallica sometimes. Other times, I like George Strait and listening to some country.

Gang: That's my guy right there!

Pfeifer: Yeah? You like George Strait? He's the king of country.

Gang: Exactly!
